There are a variety of purposes for which appraisals are necessary and each purpose creates a specific context and value creation. An initial conversation with a prospective client will help determine what needs to be appraised, the reason for the appraisal and how to proceed. If necessary, an on-site visit will be arranged to meet with the client and assess the scope of work.
Client provided documentation on the items to be appraised will assist in a more accurate appraisal. Based on the preliminary meeting and/or conversation, a formal agreement will be submitted to the client that will include the estimated fee, research time, possible use of consultants and any other mutual obligations. Access to the site and an agreed-upon timeline will be determined to complete the project and deliver the report.
